On his way home from school, Jon thought about where the stone came from. His grandfather said it was Incan, but he wondered how it came into existence in the first place. These were just wandering thoughts, as Jon was more interested in what he could wish for instead of finding out the history of the stone. But he was still a little interested, so he made a wish.
"I wish to know where this stone came from." The stone flashed, but nothing happened. Jon didn't gain any knowledge about the stone. "That's strange. It didn't grant my wish." He tried it a different way. "I wish to know what this stone is." Again, the stone flashed, and again it didn't grant Jon's wish. "What's wrong with this thing? Is it broken?"
He stopped walking and held the stone firmly in his hand. "I wish to have ten dollars in my hand." The stone flashed and Jon had ten one-dollar bills in his hand. "Well, that worked. I wonder why it wouldn't grant those other wishes?"
Now he was even more interested in the history of the stone. Why wouldn't the stone let him know the history about it?
Fortunately, Jon knew a couple of scientists who could help him out with this problem. Well, they were sort of scientists. They were what you'd call "paranormal investigators", kinda like that movie "Ghostbusters", except they don't catch ghosts. Dr. Eric Stutman and Dr. Keith Wooley, both in their mid-twenties, were part of a locally-funded science lab. It was there, that Jon decided to go instead of home. He was going to figure this whole thing out.
