"Game of ThronesOpen in new Window. Hello Megan! My name is Sandra. I am one of the sly foxes.
Title: Epitaphs
First Impression: I have never ever seen the word "scrum" other than in reference to a rugby huddle. I assume you intended it to mean scum, questionable sorts? There are numerous names for those people. Yes, everyone is entitled to an epitaph. I noticed your rhyme right away and it made this poem easy to read. It flowed nicely. "Hottie" and "hobby" are not exact rhymes though, close, similar, but not the same. The spacing of your stanzas is a neat presentation.
What needs your attention: Nothing! Why would I want to see your poem altered? It is great just as it is, short and snappy like Gertrude's epitaphs.
What part I liked best: That Gertrude was clever. Her words were immortalized on headstones for all to ponder. Talk about baring it all. She did not hold back. No secrets were taken to the grave. "The man loved his wife and others' wives too." "Here lies Homer. His best friend was his horse." "Some were sinners and their death was how they were paid." All funny and to the point. Do not mess with Gertrude! I imagine strolling through the graveyard featuring these epitaphs would be entertaining. I wonder if Gertrude crafted her own epitaph? Tongue in cheek? She wished to be remembered as a hottie? Being unforgotten for your laugh is lovely. Too many people take everything seriously.
Overall Impression: This is hilarious! Too bad Gertrude expired. I might have hired her for some light epitaph writing duty. Rest in peace dear funny Gertrude.
Thank you for allowing me to read your work. It has been my pleasure. What does the fox say??? Listen carefully.
