A man goes to the doctor and says, “I keep singing Delilah”. The doctor says, “It’s Tom Jones Syndrome.” The patient asks, “Is it common?” The doctor replies, “It’s Not Unusual…”

I’ve got a joke about Elton John. It’s a little bit funny.

Two wind turbines in a field. One says to the other “do you like music?” The other replies “Yes, I’m a big heavy metal fan”.

*Beakerb* Topic: Forget the cat videos for a laugh. Try watching a music video to entertain and lift your spirits.

Letter from the editor

Have you ever had one of those days where you’re not sure what is wrong, or what to do about it? I had a day like that a few weeks ago. I usually watch some cat videos to make me laugh, but it didn’t help.

I tried peeling away at any problems bothering me like an onion. I dug deep to narrow down any issues. It bugged me that I broke a fingernail, and there was the flat tire on the car, or it could even be the year 2020 in general. I googled how to get out of a bad mood, and the list was an interesting one.

*Dialog* Talk about it the problem. No thanks. What is it I’m going to say exactly? Start crying, and tell a friend the story about my fingernail?

*Sneaker2**Sneaker2* Go for a walk. Um, it’s 100 degrees outside.

*Choco**Choco* Eat chocolate. If I had some that would be a great. I could raid the chocolate chip container.

*Audio3* Blast out some positive music. I liked this idea!

I’ve heard how music can be good therapy and can even help people in their recovery from surgery by lowering their blood pressure and reducing anxiety. It’s also been a proven therapy for people with Alzheimer’s and Autism.

I glanced at the google list again and decided to try three of the points. As far as the talk about it point, there’s no way I’m going to bother anyone about my fingernail and whine about a flat tire, or even 2020. I knew of a way to solve one of the problems — I armed myself with a nail file. I also decided on the chocolate idea and raided the chocolate chip storage jar. For my third choice, I embarked on the mission of finding a new song to turn my bad mood around.

I wanted to be entertained, so I went to YouTube to find a music video. As I scanned the main page, between how to knit socks in three easy steps, and how to talk to Swans, a thumbnail of a music video caught my attention. I recognized the two singers and remembered I watched another video of theirs a while ago. The only thing I was leery about was the title, That’s Life. I turned the speakers on and dialed the volume up. The video started, and I was hooked from the beginning to the end. At one point, I almost choked on a chocolate chip because it made me laugh. I listened to it a couple of times, letting the music and lyrics sink into my head. It was the perfect video, and I would say the music therapy was a big success. I mean, the problems of 2020 didn’t go away, or I didn’t jump up to fix the flat tire, but it helped in lifting the bad mood so I could carry on with my day.

The next time you’re having a tough day, turn up the volume and watch a music video. Don’t forget the chocolate!

*Video* Here’s the video that made my day. I hope you enjoy it!

BIG BAD WOLF is Howling Author Icon: A couple of phrases used by my family, especially when we want to do something, but can't guarantee that we'll be able to do it are "We shall see" and "Time will tell." Sometimes those words are the closest thing we have to a promise in our family, especially since they were words my grandmother used.

Thanks for the comment! My mother always used 'Time will tell', too. *Wink*

Thanks, Lilli! It was fun reading about the origins, and the ones I covered were just a drop in the bucket. *Wink*
