Catching Up

This weekend I got caught up on a lot of things that I've been meaning to catch up on for a long time. Just things around the house and a few works things that I fell behind on. It felt so good to get things done without interruption and at my own pace!

I know it can feel overwhelming if you fall behind on things. Not only do you have more work to do, there can be some guilt involved in letting yourself (and possibly others) down. It's important to assess your feelings and your available time to determine when it's time to catch up!

*Idea* First off, forgive yourself for falling behind. It happens to all of us as far as I can. We're human, we're not perfect! Try to accept it and move on!

*Idea* If anyone else is involved, make sure to contact them and explain. Apologize if you feel it's needed. In the case of falling behind on judging contest/activity entries (I'm sure this has happened to a lot of us), most WDC members are very understanding! If you can, offer an apology gift, like additional reviews or maybe some gift points. It's important to reach out and not just ignore the situation, I think.

*Idea* Study your schedule and put aside some time to work on catching up. If necessary, make a plan first. Understand that it might take some time to catch up. For instance, I try to keep my work email sorted into folders, moving an email once I deal with it. I tend to fall behind on sorting them and I'll soon have hundreds cluttering my inbox! When I notice that it's adding up, I make a plan to sort 50 per day. Soon, I'm caught up!

*Idea* Don't freak out if it doesn't go according to plan. Make a plan, but forgive yourself if things come up and you have to adjust. Just be sure to make an effort to stick to it or to adjust it accordingly.

If these tips don't work, I can assure you that it feels really good to get caught up on neglected tasks! *Smile*

As always, keep on writing! *Quill*
