The festivities, both WDC official and unofficial member-led, for WDC's 23rd Anniversary, are now in the book.
Though this newsletter is geared toward Newbies, I know many seasoned members read Noticing Newbies. I'd love to know from all members reading these words what you thought about this year's festivities, how you participated and how you fared.
I'm curious. Did you participate in any of the events and activities?
If you checked out "Writing.Com Party Central 2024!" during the first week in September, you'll have noticed dozens of opportunities to enter your offerings for judging, bidding for packages and gift points, and generally finding fun things to do each day. (Note: you can still look at "Writing.Com Party Central 2024!" to see what you missed if you DIDN'T take part.}
The StoryMaster and especially The StoryMistress most likely spent weeks (even months) preparing for the festivities that encompassed the anniversary timeframe. Each day, additional emoticons and new merit badges were introduced each of the first seven days on September. More decorative skins were introduced. And the membership reaps the benefit from this creativity.
Again, I'm curious. Our founders allowed every member to give one merit badge free each day during the official anniversary. Did you take advantage of this opportunity?
And how did you fare with any contests you entered? Did your raffle entry net what you hoped?
I've asked enough questions. I await your responses regarding the success of WDC's 23rd Anniversary.
A final question: Was the 23rd Anniversary a success?
Write on!

Thanks for spending time with me today. At the bottom of every newsletter is a section entitled
followed by a text box. If you liked what you read (or if you didn't), please take time and drop me a line. I'd love to hear your ideas.
From the mailbag:
From Falling Potato Flake : So I haven’t really noticed the same rhythm with my writing. For me what I compose is largely dependent on my mood and what personal drama may be going on in my life.
From the Newsfeed:
From Ned : I try to write only short and light things in the summer due to the heat. I save the heavy, long items for the colder months, when having a weighty work hanging over you is less bothersome.
From H❀pe : What an interesting question/thought.
Upon reflection I recall writing very fatalistic and angst-ridden during sequential December's... which may be the influence of either crazy season retail stressors or [my] birthday blues? Or both!
Generally I enjoy spring and autumn writing, Spring especially. Incidentally we've just entered spring here now in NZ
I look forward to reading your Spring releases.
From TheBusmanPoet : No but if something comes to mind that's themed for a particular time of year, I will write it.
From Beholden : Hang on while I get my specs - I can't read that.
You can't ... whaaat?
From 🌕 HuntersMoon : Wouldn't that require focus? 🤓
In your case, Ken, perhaps a bit more than you can muster. In all honesty, I find my focus all over the place as I age.
From Blessed Christmouse : Not really. I've been trying to finish a couple of Christmas stories I'm writing all year. I think the only thing that changes from season to season is what I am inspired to write. That's only because I am inspired by things around me from everywhere and those things do change.
I know about having a number of unfinished stories being worked throughout the year.
