About This Newsletter

I didn't expect quite this result when I re-gifted something!

Letter from the editor

The gifts you get you can't often choose
So sometimes you receive those you can't use
Well - now you have to discern
Do you hold on, re-gift, or return?
Let me tell you my little story
Of a re-gift and its glory!

Dear Reader,

It began with a healing session I attended. There, a fellow participant gifted me a 'Gratitude' journal. Each page has little prompts that one has to answer. It's of her own creation, and a prototype for those she intended to mass produce for sale.

My eyesight being too weak to work with the size of the print, I knew I couldn't use it myself. I was in a bit of a dilemma - to tell her, or not? Since I don't know her that well, I decided to simply thank her, keep the journal - and re-gift it when I found someone who'd appreciate it.

Now I know re-gifting is a delicate issue. Am I disrespecting the person who gifted it? Or am I in fact, showing gratitude for a gratitude journal by giving it to someone who'd like it, instead of letting it simply lie there on my shelf?

Anyway, I gifted it to the director of the school I visit.

A week later, I got a call from her - she'd begun using it and was loving it.

Another month later, I got another call - would I connect her to the creator of the journal, so that she could order copies for her students ... ?

The lady who gifted me the book had a meeting with the director of the school last Wednesday. The school has ordered eight hundred copies of the book for Grades 5 and up and all the staff, and has asked her to work out another suitable for Grades 1 - 4. 'Gratitude' is going to be on the timetable for fifteen minutes each working day, when everyone - students and teachers alike - fill out their gratitude journals.

Well!

Little did I know that the decision to re-gift would lead to this -- such a big order for her, and a habit of gratitude inculcated into so many young souls.

You're probably reading this just before or after unwrapping some gifts -- and just before or after watching someone unwrap gifts you've given them. If it's already a perfect match, great. If not -- well, maybe that's just part of a bigger story after all!

Happy Festive Season!

Merry Christmas to all, and to all, a good write!
