About This Newsletter

Life without action is static, and by necessity, it would therefore be dead. Action writing takes the normal and shares it for all to live vicariously.

Adventure is the spice: the exciting, adrenalin-pumping, thrill that makes one feel so alive. Everyone has an adventuresome spirit. Maybe dreams of excavating some long-lost treasure, visiting a new country, or trying a new flavour of potato chip. *Wink* Some of us prefer our adventures to come between the pages of a book, and many of us like to write that adventure.

Exit, Stage Right

I've been editor of the Action/Adventure Newsletter for close on three years now, with some guest editorials before that. I can't believe that you've put up with my ramblings for so long. *Laugh*

All good stories come to an end, and it is time for this one to at least take a vacation, so this is my last issue of the Action/Adventure Newsletter. It is time to close the cover and dive into a different story, one which I have yet to choose. Who know what genre, format, or length it will take, but it is an exciting prospect to look anew at what is on offer.

I am very relieved to be able to bid adieu in the newsletter as loose ends are always a bit unsightly. Dangling ends confuse things, leaving unanswered questions and aimless details forever milling about in no-man's-land. So, while this is my opportunity to snip a few threads and tidy the hemline, it is also your opportunity to think about the ending of your stories and poems.

Ever read a campfire that suddenly ends mid-explosion and hasn't been added to in over a year? Well, you kind of know what it's like then, however subtle the details may be.

It is time to pick up your needle and weave those danglers back into the fabric of your garment. Iron those puckered seams flat by removing that which is unnecessary. Add a few sequins or bows where the story needs bolstering to support the structure. Finish off with a steam-clean (spell check) and a press (final read-through), then let it loose into the world of critics. If you've left any chalk marks on the fabric or pins sticking out, they'll be sure to find them for you.

So, I wish you happy tailoring...er, writing!

It has been my pleasure,

*Gift2* "Hey, thanks for the plug for "Long Cool Woman"! This is the first story I've written that's been read by more men than women. *Delight*
Have an adventurous week!"

         *Blush* Thank you!

*Gift2* Hi, a really insightful newsletter, and helpful. My favourite superpower is the incredible spinning man. You have almost certainly come across him or her. "He turned round and said..., then he turned round and said" etc. Unless he/she is a ballerina I’m guessing they actually stay pretty stationary.
Keep up the good work.

I love your description and I must say, I have certainly come across this whirlwind of which you speak. *Laugh* Thanks for the humorous feedback.
