Be Thankful

'Tis the season to be thankful! It's not always easy though, especially for those who have lost their jobs, among all the other issues people are facing right now. But the Thanksgiving holiday is a day where there are no material gifts given, only the giving of thanks. Most of us get together with loved ones and share in a big feast. Many help out in Soup Kitchens or other places to give the needy a decent meal on this day. Whatever you are doing or wherever you are, be thankful for what you have. *Smile*

I am traveling to Iowa to meet up with my oldest daughter and her family from Colorado. My younger daughter and her family are also going. Our Thanksgiving meal will be at a restaurant that day, but I am thankful we can all be together, as it rarely happens anymore.

Our nine hour drive will give me plenty of time to write! I am very thankful for that! And I am thankful my hubby will do all the driving so I am able to write (or sleep *Rolleyes*).

I could go on and on for all I am thankful for. Thanksgiving is a time to appreciate what we do have.

I have made many friends here at Writing.Com. I am very thankful for that. People come and go at times, but for those of us who have been here for years, it's like a second home. I'll never forget being a Newbie, though. It's hard to believe that was over seven years ago. It was kinda scary... just a little! But I felt welcomed. This newsletter is intended to welcome newbies. Please ask questions if you don't understand something. *Smile* Most of us here are pretty user-friendly. And if we can't answer your questions, we'll point you in the right direction.

         Enjoy your holiday and...

Have a wonderful week!!!

Keep on Writing!

Yours truly,
Cubby ")

And Now For Our Featured Newbies!

The Love in a Filet-O-Fish Open in new Window. [E]
Meeting the love of your life during stop at McDonalds.
by shively1126 Author Icon

Excerpt: Shannon, thirteen at the time, had a slender figure along with blond hair and green eyes. She was almost as tall as me by then, but she would always be my little sister. A rowdy demeanor was her personality, but she wasn't necessarily a tomboy. Persuasive and demanding, she was the enforcer of the family.

Someday I will go somewhere. Open in new Window. [E]
I often look at the mountains and wish I could be anywhere else, but it's not my time yet.
by Jennifer B Author Icon

Excerpt: I am standing in the valley, looking at the sky. The wind is strong and the sun is dancing off the clouds. The season is changing. I can feel the cool air on my face as the leaves blow past on the pavement at my feet. How great is my fortune to be here in this moment? Watching as the world literally spins in front of me.

The Last Cigarette Open in new Window. [13+]
Smoking can kill. Really?
by W. Hocares Author Icon

Excerpt: If there had been notes like 'Smoking can kill' on the packs when I started to smoke, maybe I would have considered quitting much earlier. But - apparently not - teaching passed me as easy as the water leaves goose's back.

*Bullet* Lupus Author IconMail Icon Thanks very much for the information it helped me find another few places too look about and read up on.

Please keep doing what you do so well.

~ You are very welcome! *Smile*

*Bullet* 4theLoveofWriting Author IconMail Icon Cubby,

What a great set of guidelines. You have summed things up as succinctly as I have ever seen it.

Could I post a link to this on my twitter account http://twitter.com/marchbooks? I know that many of my writer friends would find this helpful. If so, is there a link in your port or somewhere else so that I would not have to link to my email?

~ *Bigsmile* Sure! I believe you can link the editorial right to your twitter account. Thank you!

*Bullet* sarahreed Good writing tips! It's always helpful to refresh my mind and refocus what to do and what not to do.

~ Thank you! Even though many of us are already aware of those tips, reading them over might jar us from our mist and therefore inspire. *Bigsmile*

*Bullet* raidensco I got my book Magical Beasts Investigation Unit by Scott C. Wilcox published and will be in stores November 21 but available on line now at publishedauthors.net/ScottCWilcox

~ Congratulations! *Balloon1*
