Hello, everyone! Welcome to this edition of the For Authors newsletter. This week's topic is focused on attainable goals, but first off, I'd like to share a few quotes with you. Enjoy!

Attainable Goals
2010 has been one of the worst years of my life. Between menopause, a hostile work environment, the loss of my father and aunt, plus a fickle Internet connection, I'm ready to go forward and set goals for myself...
And I welcome 2011 with open arms!
With the busy time of year behind us (hopefully!), we now need to dig out our creativity that's been buried under piles of holiday bustle. It's time to sit back and relax and think about what our goals are. Don't be too hard on yourself, but make a list--an easy list--to begin with. Here's mine:
Write one new children's story a month.
Polish past children's stories and send out at least one manuscript to a publisher per month.
Organize all my writing stuff when I'm not feeling creative. It wouldn't surprise me if I stumbled upon something inspiring.
Take home children's books and magazines from the library continuously to stay inspired and keep up on what's being published.
Browse the Internet for sites dedicated to kids.
Write down all those cute things my grandchildren say for possible prompts in the future.
It's not a hard list, but it's do-able. I don't feel overwhelmed by it either. Giving ourselves goals which smother our creativity is not productive. Be easy on yourself. But follow through. If you can't or don't meet your goals for whatever reason, the important thing is, to keep on moving. Do not give up if you stumble. Pull yourself up and step forward. Easy goals are attainable! And you won't be graded.
If you haven't already, go make that list!
Happy January!
May you have an inspiring week and an exceptionally inspiring winter!
Keep on Writing!
