Writing.com Becomes a Teenager!

You may have noticed things have changed a little bit around the site. That's because Writing.com is celebrating its 13th birthday, and growing and changing like teenagers tend to do!

I remember when I first started my love affair with WDC. It was eleven years ago, and I was a senior in high school. I was looking for a writing site, and I think I randomly typed www.writing.com into the address bar, when up popped a real site! That feels like forever ago. I have gone through many changes in my life since then, but WDC was always there providing me with something fresh and new whenever I was bored.

I've done newsletters about why I love WDC before, but today I want to hear how you all fell in love with this site! How many years have you celebrated anniversaries with this site? How did you discover it? What people, events, and features keep your relationship with WDC strong?

Please fill out the form below *Down* to provide your feedback. I will include some of your responses in my newsletter next month!

Ask & Answer

Last month, I talked about the ever-evolving nature of relationships. Many of you wrote in to tell me about the years you have endured with your loves. Some of your comments are below.

Yes, that's intriguing to me, too. I grow mushmellowy whenever I see a couple in their eighties, who've been married practically their whole lifetimes, still holding hands.

That says it all. It's possible. For some . . .-shaara

I've been married for 34 years to the same wonderful, loving and very tolerant man whose smile still lights me up. I'll have to posted the essay I wrote when we had only reached the 30 year mark. -dragonwoman Author IconMail Icon

Any relationship, romantic, working, or even friendship, takes work. I've been married for 28 years now and we're still working on the bumps that come along. The key, for us at least, is communication. Make that time, take that hour to simply talk about anything and nothing at all. You don't have to have fancy dates (they're still nice, though) just the time to talk and re-cement the bonds that have held you together this long. -Raine Author IconMail Icon

My grandparents will be married 65 years in December. She will be 94 by then, and he is 85. Many had their doubts when they first married because my grandmother already had 3 small children. Yet here they are now through kids, grandkids, great grandkids, and soon to be 2 great great grandkids! My grandpa always holds my grandmas hand, and tells her she's the prettiest girl. It's a love so pure and beautiful. That love will eventually go all the way to the grave. That part makes me cry. Thank you for letting me share a little personal tidbit. Someday I am going to write a book about them and all the stories they have told. I've been writing them down. It will be one of the most beautiful love stories of all time.-Marci Missing Everyone Author IconMail Icon
