A quote from "Dead Poets Society."
“No matter what anybody tells you, words and ideas can change the world.”
Indeed they can! Rest in peace, Robin Williams. This edition of the Comedy Newsletter is dedicated to your memory. Thank you for sharing YOUR time with us and making us laugh and cry over the years. You were a master of comedy, thus you would have understood; the show must go on ...

Hello, folks! Welcome to another edition of the Comedy Newsletter. I hope all of you are getting geared-up for WDC's 14th birthday celebration, coming soon. It will be quite festive, as always. So don't miss out on the fun beginning September, 1. Also, I'll tell you how you could earn a very exclusive MB, in the "Ask and Answer" section of this Newsletter. Yeah, okay, you can skip right over to the contest, part. Sheesh, I should have waited until the end of the Newsletter to get you all excited about the contest. Just so you know, I did spend a lot of "time" on this edition.
~~~
I’ve been having a lot of fun with time, lately. (Actually my brain hurts from thinking about it.) Thanks PatrickB, it’s all your fault!
Time is precious, and hopefully we spend part of it finding some humor in the daily grind. It's a great pressure release valve! You see, Patrick the wonderful creator of “The Art of Criticism” project, asks group members to respond to a Symposium question each newsletter cycle. This past newsletter we were asked about time management.
I thought about time in witching hours, and how time can fly without a broom. I think I manage my time pretty well. It's always there to use at my convenience. The only thing is, I don't always get to other places on time. I think appointments at some places run on a different time than mine. Perhaps there exists a time rip or warp outside my home.
I do have a day remembrance deficit. Like if someone asks, what's today's date?" I'd have to say, "date? "I can't even tell you the day! Seven days are hard enough to remember, you want to give them about thirty numbers of their own, also? Please, go ask someone else. That's too much like math, and everybody knows WebWitch doesn't do math!
That reminds me, I rarely wear a watch. The one I have is a pretty decorative piece of jewelry, so I like wearing it when I dress up a bit. But, it's solar battery operated and if doesn't get some solar every so often, it stops, and then starts up again when it goes outdoors for a while. But then, the watch's time sets differently than other people in my time zone's watches, due to its solar starvation issues.
When my son came for visit with his girlfriend, I noticed she was staring at a clock in my living room and a little disturbed by the lateness of hour and them having to drive back to their town in time for something else. My son told her, "Don't look at the clocks in this house! They're all different and none of them have the correct time. The one in this room is two and a half hours fast, so we have plenty of time." (May I add that my son didn’t notice my clock said a.m. when it was p.m., thus making my clock actually nine and a half hours slow!)
Time is relative, and sometimes relatives need managing; or perhaps ignoring. If they want to know the correct time in a witch’s home, they can wear a watch that works in their time measurement cycle. (However, would it cease to work correctly inside my house?)
And lest we forget what else exists in our world, “WDC Time!” It’s actually the only time we can all agree on, outside our own homes.
I recently read on the WDC Newsfeed, a message from a member who sent out a jolly, Monday morning greeting to us. I looked at WDC Time and it was 9:00 p.m. on Sunday night. I had to write back and ask if he resided in the Philippines. Another member responded, she was in the same country and yes, the Philippines is twelve hours ahead of WDC. I thought about that for a few minutes and then it hit me ... Wow, I’m talking to the future! Now I ask you, how often do we get to experience the future in the present? It answers the nagging question: If today is yesterday’s tomorrow, will tomorrow ever come? Thank heavens, there will be a tomorrow!
I hope all is fine, where ever and whatever time you live in, folks.
That’s all the time she had for this edition of the Comedy Newsletter.
Until next time -- laugh hard, laugh often!
Would you like to win one of these exclusive MBs, folks? I am challenging all of you to join in the WDC 14th Birthday Bash, next month. You could win this MB and some GPs, by writing a comedy-poem. A "poemedy" if you prefer. I love originality, so rhyme or don't rhyme, sonnet or something else, it just needs to be humorous and contain only and exactly only ... 14 lines!
Now that sounds easy enough, right? I am especially generous during one of these challenges, because it will also be my sixth anniversary as one of your Comedy Newsletter, editors. And you know something? I never missed one edition in all those six years. Nope, you had to put up with me each and every month and sometimes twice in the same month. So I figure, let's give these guys something fun to kick-start their muses!
First Place: 25,000 GPs plus Exclsuive MB
Second Place, 10,000 GPs plus Exclusive MB
Third Place, well, you'll just get stuck with an exclusive MB.
Honorable Mention? Well that depends on the number of entries. If that does occur, then the above mentioned third place winner will also receive GPs as well as the MB. The honorable mention will then be the one stuck with only an MB. ( If there are less than five entries, only first and second place prizes will be awarded. )
What do you think? Got it in you to make me laugh within 14 lines? Hmmmmm?
Please post your entries in B-item or item, and send it to Ẃeβ࿚ẂỉԎḈĥ with the "submit an item" to newsletters, link, or in the feedback area below, or send the link to me via email.
Please post your item by 9/7 so I get it organized before the deadline.
That's all there is to it, folks!
So good to be reminded in a comical way to be alert and on guard. Thanks for this.
It was my pleasure. Thank you for the feedback, Kate!
I burst out laughing at work. Had some heads turn. This was the funniest! Lord, Honey, you gave me a good laugh on Hump Day. My hubby left on a trip this morning and I was feeling a little blue but this NL ...
So happy you enjoyed the NL and I could give you a chuckle at work.
I found your little mishap very funny!-not that I’m laughing at your misfortune, I’m laughing with you. I rarely use my credit card but when I do, I pay it off immediately. I remember losing my mom’s card. I lost it from coming from the store and there happened to be guests over. My mom made an announcement of what I did and everyone went outside and scoured the path I took home from the supermarket. It was actually kind of fun, like a scavenger hunt. We never found it but about three days later a very honest lady found it on the ground and brought it to our door. Anyway, I’ll never forget that moment. Thanks for sharing your personal and lighthearted experience!
It's always my pleasure to bring the sometimes bazaar life-events I experience to the Newsletters. We all have these strange moments that can be captured and turned into humorous writings -- once we get over the initial shock or embarrassment of the moment that is.
I'm happy the missing credit card was returned safely to your home.
BIG BAD WOLF is Howling submits "Monsters Versus Aliens Sequel"
And opines: "Life will always be crazy. Have fun."
I try, BBW -- I try!
Thank you for your feedback, folks! We editors really appreciate it.
See you next month!
