About This Newsletter

Good writing is supposed to evoke sensation in the reader - not the fact that it is raining, but the feeling of being rained upon.~~E. L. Doctorow

When you're writing, you're conjuring. It's a ritual, and you need to be brave and respectful and sometimes get out of the way of whatever it is that you're inviting into the room.~~Tom Waits

Writing is really very easy. Tap a vein and bleed onto the page. Everything else is just technical.~~Derrick Jensen

It is by teaching that we teach ourselves, by relating that we observe, by affirming that we examine, by showing that we look, by writing that we think, by pumping that we draw water into the well.~~Henri Frederic Amiel

Letter from the editor

In response to the high number of requests, we at Wynwidyn Press are pleased to announce that there will be a 2016 Writing.Com Anthology. I am so excited about this upcoming project as it is our way of giving back to the WDC community. It is a true labor of love for all involved as the production costs of the anthology come out of my pocket or are donated by WDC members who put in endless hours logging and keeping track of entries, judging each entry, laying out the book, et cetera. It is a massive project! It has also become very special to all who are involved in the project as well as to those who are (or have been) included in the anthology.

For WDC authors to submit items for consideration

The deadline for submissions is May 1, 2016. This will allow us to have the book out in time for the holidays in December. (Although we hope to have the book out in late October/ early November!) The book wil primarily be available in paperback, but if there is sufficient interest and preorders, it will also be available in hard cover as well! (If prior years prove to the the rule, it will be available in both formats, although hardcover will be by a set preorder date! (We will set this up closer to the end of the production period!)

This anthology is a wonderful way for WDC authors to get recognition and have some of their work published. It is also a way to give back to our community here and help other members. If you've ever had help with keeping or getting an upgrade, you know how great that felt and how happy it made you feel. The submission fee for the pieces for the anthology goes (equally) to

These are two incredibly important groups at Writing.com and groups who go above and beyond to help our community!!!

As in prior years, there will be several Editor's Picks chosen by the editors and two Publisher's Picks chosen from the Editor's Picks to be awarded trophies as well. We are looking for a few more Editors/Judges to judge either poetry or short stories. If you are interested in being a part of the anthology in this way, please email me!

I look forward to receiving your submissions and to the best Writing.Com Anthology EVER!

Ask & Answer

Quick-Quill Author IconMail Icon says: Thank you for this newsletter! I just printed it off to add to my critique of a book. This writer has a great idea but needs every bit of what you wrote to take this MS to the next step.

Patrece ~ Author IconMail Icon writes: Thank you Fyn, for reminding us that our characters are to be portrayed as real living beings, with all of the emotions, experiences and reactions that real living beings experience. Thought provoking newsletter! Thank you.

tucknits Author IconMail Icon comments: Hello! Thank you for this most timely and creative discussion about emotion. Even though the weather in my little corner of the world generally flip-flops crazily every few days, this year it has been, longer than usual "gymnastic weather". Your descriptor finally gives me something I can use other than "psychotic" when asked about weather! Love it! Seriously, I enjoyed all your suggestions, particularly timely for me as I am struggling with an ending to an emotional poem. In general, all the newsletters have been educational and interesting. Thank you!
