About This Newsletter

Hi! It's Marci and I am your Comedy Newsletter editor for each mid-month edition. I wouldn’t consider myself a comedic writer. So then why am I editing the comedy newsletter? Because even the most dramatic, suspenseful, and mysterious works need something called “comic relief” once in a while. So if you are not a natural comedian, then this is the place for you and we shall find comic relief together.

Behind every great man is a woman rolling her eyes. ~ Jim Carrey

Letter from the editor

Today, I did the first thing I do every day. I opened my laptop and went directly to WDC. I needed some comedy inspiration. Let’s just say it’s been one of those weeks. Normally I have funny stuff happening all the time. I mean with two kids, two dogs, and a husband, inspiration is bound to pop up some place. But, like I said, it’s been a bad week.

One of the first things I saw was “Three Word Thursday” and I thought, aha, I have found my inspiration. I don’t know who comes up with the ideas for Three Word Thursday, but they have some pretty great prompts and today was no exception.

Actually, there have been two prompts today, but the best one to elicit a great response and a laugh is “three words for what your contractor might say.” Now there were some funny responses. Mine, in particular, was “warranty expired yesterday.” Okay, I thought it was funny, anyway.

Personally, I think these prompts are perfect for coming up with sarcastic little quips, and I almost always try to play along. Do you? If not, you should start. If you’ll remember, last month I talked about using comic relief in your dramatic writing. Sarcasm is one of the best ways to pull that off.

Start honing your sarcasm skills and you’ll see what fun it adds to your writing. So before we get to this week’s comedy picks, let me share some of the coolest, most sarcastic quips I saw for “three words your contractor might say.”

By Friday? Sure.
(That's what he says. Under his breath, he whispers "I didn't say this Friday")

So next week when I look through Two Word Tuesday or Three Word Thursday, I better find some funnies! You never know when I’ll find yours hilarious and post it on here. In fact, I’m going to make it my mission to find the best sarcastic quips on those days. So answer carefully. You never know when you might be featured. *Smirk*
