About This Newsletter

Beauty without expression is boring.
~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

The best thing to do is stare it in the face and move on. We have to face our fears and plow through. I think taking chances takes a lot more courage than staying stagnant and doing what's safe and comfortable.

Letter from the editor

How's your NaNoWriMo going so far? *Ha* Either, you're full speed ahead or, you're busy with an unplanned schedule and wonder how did you ever think that you'd manage to write a full blown novel in a matter of a month. The first example might be you. Option two belongs to someone like me, whose life tends to toss itself upside down at the least convenient times.

Question is, what do you do when your plans don't go as hoped?

Writing is a way of life, an escape for many of us, to find some peace and quiet, reflect on our life, or not, and escape reality. When we have the time, we'll sit down and write, participate in activities, enter contests, have a lot of fun with various games around the site. Yet when we don't? When time is of the essence and we're stuck doing what life demands of us instead? Then we need to learn how to use even that for collecting ideas, scribbling things down.

Life can get hectic, deadlines, not writing related, must be met, and you're under a lot of pressure. Writing, most times, takes a back seat. We do what we can:

*BulletV* Reading ~ it might be hard to find the time to sit down and read a book the way you wish to - half a book in a few hours - but one or two chapters at a time can be relaxing and inspiring. Other people's writing can spark ideas of your own that you might consider working on down the line.

*BulletV* Personal Journal ~ It can be tedious and time consuming to put down your daily thoughts and tasks down, but if you wrote down a sentence or two, an inspiring quote, something that struck you as important or inspirational, it may bring ideas you didn't even think of. It only takes a few minutes to write down the basic idea of something so you can use it later.

*BulletV* Relax ~ Watching a show or two, even binge watching if time permits, can take your mind off the daily stress and relax you enough to have an idea for something you might like to do down the line.

It doesn't always have to be writing related. Not everything you write has to be posted on Writing.com, unless you feel like sharing it might bring you personal comfort. Sometimes, writing can be done just for you and your eyes only. Feeling the blues is normal and the muse is known to take a personal vacation here and there. You cannot force the words to come to you, but you can keep things from being stagnant and using any way to keep things from being boring is one way to still keep going.

'Til next time!
