About This Newsletter

Halloween is not only about putting on a costume, but it's about finding the imagination and costume within ourselves.
~ Elvis Duran

It's said that All Hallows' Eve is one of the nights when the veil between the worlds is thin - and whether you believe in such things or not, those roaming spirits probably believe in you, or at least acknowledge your existence, considering that it used to be their own. Even the air feels different on Halloween, autumn-crisp and bright.

Letter from the editor

As the celebrations for Writing.com's 18th birthday slowly die down, the excitement for Halloween is already in the chilly air some of us have experienced. The decorations are well under way, online as well as off, and even though it may not be everyone's favorite time of the year, if you sit back and observe, you'll see the beauty even in all things scary.

There are members on this site who love this time of the year. The crispy fall air, the changing colors of the trees but most of all, the decorations for what is supposed to be the scariest holiday ever. With that, you see many activities popping up around the site and almost every witch is polishing her broom to be flight ready.

If this time of the year isn't something you truly enjoy doesn't mean you can't take part in it. It also means that others are allowed to change your mind. Halloween isn't all about scary. It's about mystery, about the love for the supernatural, the imagination. And we all know that writers have an immense amount of that.

Be bold this on this holiday and try something new. Create something different. Dare to do something no one else has ever tried. At times we feel that whatever idea we come up with it has already been done and you lose the inspiration to pull through with it. This is it the time to think outside the box. This is the time to dig through your darkest corners of your mind and create the unexpected, unexplained. Raffles and auctions are great, but they've been done and done again. Come up with an idea that would stun others. It may be a lot of work, it may be demanding, but you'll reap the rewards.

'Til next time!
