For My Grandfathers

Broken bits of stained glass windows,
Fractured hymns rise to crescendos

Empty swings that fly through the air
I was afraid to climb the dark stair
but I loved your snow white hair.

Sinewy blue smoke from your cigarette
clouds your eyes that match the ash.

A pair of tattered overalls,
saw many years of splendid Falls.

Gray stones left and gray stones right,
Blossoms red and blossoms white.

I hear your whispers in the night.
