The Tree

The tree stands tall
The trunk shows signs
of damage and pain.
But, it also shows signs
of healing and growth.
The roots can be seen
on top of the ground.
But the roots go
very deep into the earth.
The limbs are bare
awaiting spring and new growth.
The tree stands tall
drinking in the sun.
The wind blows causing
the limbs and branches to shake.
But, the tree stands strong.
At the appointed time
The green leaves will appear
and drape the limbs in beauty.
As the seasons change
Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter
The tree remains tall and strong.
But showing a little more wear
with each passing year.
