Green, green grass,

dancing in the wind

Sometimes twitching only slightly

other times turning somersaults

In a bladed sea

it is never lost

Embracing in the heat of the sun

Shivering as the rain falls sharply

pounding it to the ground

Slowly springing back to life

as the warming sun parches it

Caressed by children's bare feet

enjoying the ending of the season

Soon it will be hiding

sleeping like a bear beneath

the icy blanket of snow
