My thoughts on this selfish tragedy
Where have all the bleeding hearts gone?
Apparently, whale watching everyone;
Never around when you need them,
But all bluff and bluster when it comes to freedom;

Of their rights to do this and to do that,
Chameleons that change at the drop of a hat;
Who protest for owls and legal immigration,
But won’t lift a finger at this tragic indignation.

So deaf to sweet Terri’s struggle for life,
Hardening their hearts to her valiant vain fight;
Oh hypocrites one, such villainy all,
Shame on you and your masquerade ball.

You wring your hands and you sigh with remorse,
But the fruit from your tree is a repulsive chorus;
It parrots clichés of wanting what’s best,
But stinks of deceit and cold selfishness.

How can you sleep at night while you’re starving her so?
Is your heart that calloused and your conscience that low?
Do “vegetables” smile, do “vegetables” glow,
With radiance from Heaven, can’t you see, don’t you know?

That whether Terri lives or whether she dies,
She’ll always be the apple of her dear Savior’s eyes.
And your indifference to life has enlivened the indifferent;
Who stand a prayer vigil and plead for the defendant.

Who simply ask that we err on the side of compassion,
And give Terri a chance and stay the court action,
That would sanction a death, so cruel, so inhuman,
That betrays our legacy and blood-bought constitution;

So take the high road now Michael, before it’s too late,
Give her back to her family, don’t make this mistake;
Or I promise you’ll regret it for the rest of your days,
What goes around, comes around, what you sow you will pay.
