A poem I wrote for creative writing.... |
You think you’re safe, but you’re not. You think the last you’d ever see of me Was an inky black shadow, down in the waters? Did it hurt when you killed me? Of course it did. But the scars on my soul will last forever, the body is gone now. Weighed down well. Had you done this before? The Lake was soft as a throat as your boat dragged across. The moon danced and dappled the surging waters, Sparkling like a necklace of diamond Or the glint of a knife dragged across… You think you’re free of me? In the lake, drowned things cannot stir, wriggle, and squirm Clawing at slashed throats for poisoned air. But in the lake of your mind, ah, You can never spill enough blood. Waterlogged corpses do more than awaken They claw at you. The surface is calm, but the mind is deep And all the rocks in my pockets and iron in my shoes Can’t weigh me down forever Not forever Don’t you see? You killed me. Nice and clean, no blood. But I can do so much more damage in here! Tear your mind apart shred by shred Pick at your sanity, so you won’t even know when it’s gone. Who knows? You might not even miss it. I’ll become a dream to you, locked in your padded cell All you do is babble. Babble, babble, and babble! So they won’t believe you when you scream you killed me. Just shake their heads. Sadly. A brilliant mind you were. I had fun destroying you! I’m more dangerous in here. You should have known. |
