A folksy poem about the moon and the sun.
Eclipse

The moon is in love with the sun, I say,
The moon is in love with the sun.
But the sun cannot stray, for on him rests the day,
The moon weeps in want of the sun.

The moon weeps in want of the sun, I say,
The moon weeps in want of the sun.
But the tears are too weighty; they starve the bright lady
The moon fades in want of the sun.

But what if the sun did not shine for one day,
But what if the sun did not shine?
And stole on a ladder of stars to the moon,
And there watch her gently, arrayed in full noon,
And whisper he’d fall if he’d not hold her soon,

And what if
the sun was in love with the moon?
