The beginning of an adventure.... |
"How much farther?" Ralph asked for probably the billionth time as they trudged up the shiny blue path. "That much." Kara replied pointing ahead. They had climbed all the way to the top and she was pointing at a grassy plain. On the horizon was a range of mountains, and to their left was a large and thick forest. In front of the mountains were big lumps of grass, but Ralph figured they were foothills. He look up at the sky and gasped, fore there were not one, but two suns. Kara started walking forward and he followed. After a few minutes they heard an irritating buzzing noise. Kara stopped in her tracks, Ralph bumping into her. "What is it?" he asked, suddenly alert. "I'm not sure," came the reply. Suddenly Ralph was pushed behind a boulder by Kara. "Stay here." she warned. He watched as she climbed out from behind the boulder and ran towards what looked like giant bees hovering in the air. She jumped at one and kicked it before it even had to react. The creature exploded and Kara threw her hands up to cover her face. There were two more and Kara proceeded to kick their butts. She grabbed one by the wing and smashed it into the other, both combusting into thin air. She rubbed her hands together as if that was the was the easiest thing in the world as she walked back towards the still shaking Ralph. "Th-that was amazing!" He stammered. She smiled and simply told him to follow her to the village. After about another ten minutes of walking, they arrived at a small village. The houses and shops didn't seem to be in any specific order and there was a large clock tower in the center of town. "Welcome to SummerHaven." Kara said as they walked around. She eventually stopped in front of a large hut and then walked inside. "Kara!! It's good to see you again! And who have you brought?" An old man started talking to Kara about Ralph as she explained how he had been able to heal her. He felt like he was under a microscope as the 'doc', that's what Kara called him, watched him. "What do you think, Doc?" she asked. "It's rather interesting," he replied, "I think it is best he joins you, that is if he's okay with it. You should tell him what's going on, he seems lost, or is always like that? Anyways, when you get tired stay at the inn. I'll pay for it." "Thanks Doc!" Kara said with a grin. Then she turned to Ralph and said, "Ready to hear a long story?" He sighed, nodded, and followed her outside. |
