Fantasy Poem between a rock and a snowflake( lesson on boasting) |
The ROCK and the SNOWFLAKE A Rock and a Snowflake were passing the day In a magical place, far, far away The Rock rolled around and beat on his chest I come from a long line of the bold and the best” “I wonder if I will be part of a walk or a street where people will stroll and talk.” “I can see myself as a grand house by the river or maybe a fireplace that warms when they shiver” “I could be part of the great rocks mighty and tall or stand as a monument like the Great Wall” “But you little Snowflake are fragile and new. What are you good for, what can you do”? The Snowflake was silent, quietly listening her face was thoughtful, her body glistening. “I know I am fragile, little and new but, this is what I am able to do.” “I could be part of the Alps that you see or a bit of Aspen for people to ski” Or maybe an ice-storm that clings to their cars or a roaring Blizzard with winds that jar” “I could be light, soft and care free gently touching the cheek of a tiny baby” Now it was the Rock who was thoughtful and humbled “I have been selfish, boastful, I’m sorry” he mumbled. “So little Snowflake what shall it be? the Alps or Aspen for people who ski”? The Snowflake just laughed “Well if you must know, I want to be the MAGIC OF CHRISTMAS SNOW!! Clare Boutelle |
