To the cards in my hand
I say this:
I will continue to stand
Whether you hit or miss.

To the card of the forever best friend:

Always there for me,
Always there to see
All the things hurting me.
Do you see through me?

To the card of the past love:

Let go of the past.
Treasure who you have now.
And make it last
Your job is the 'how'.

To the card of the close friends:

I hope you understand
And that you do not fret.

This is a figurative
Deck of cards.
Your presence lucrative
Do not tempt the bards

To the card of the sister:

Thank you for what you know.
Thank you for all your care.
To you alone will I show
The end of this affair.

To the card of the for now best friend:

This was not what I had expected
This was not what I hoped for
You kindly directed
My hope out the door
"Just for now
But not forever"
But just how
Can this be over?
Love cannot be 'but not forever'ed
But I can always try
And if our love if severed

While forever is too distant,
And never is too close,
