Winter Rain

A day that was filled with winter gave an unexpeceted surprise.

The day cold and bitter
with the feeling in my heart all a flutter.
Excited by the new season
that has just begun.
Tress bare,
leaves left for another space in time.
Dark clouds that promise snow
gave me quite another surprise.
The winter rain first of the year
was so refreshing.

Rain of all colors of the rainbow
came streaming down on the earth below.
Warm was the water,sweet was the smell.
I cuddle under a blanket
as the drops fell on my window.
I am safe and dry inside
wet is the outside in the winter rain.

NOTE: This was posted here for feedback. How could I improve this draft? I don't want to consider it a rough draft but I now from experience that anything can get better. We all have room for improvements so I would like to hear back of constuctive criticism(yes spelling counts I usually have my dictionary with me,can you tell when I don't :) )
