This poem is about hallucinations. |
| They were endless in your mind weren’t they? These words that ran still and deep They swam around your brain constantly Lulling you in waking, like some daytime sleep “Darling, you obsess me” is what you said to me Cancel that I thought, as if in a dream “Jezebel my love, still waters run deep, Now run along, skip away and leave me to think” Thinking, thinking it never ceases Runs along cerebral creases Tracing lines and scrawling lines Til one day they see these signs You feel they should’ve been neon really Standing back behind your head, blinking. They should’ve known the criteria, diagnostics by heart Before all that, before all this could even start But I won’t play the blame game now I can’t complain, I’m not sane now. Look at all the advantages as they seem You don’t need to close your eyes to dream. |
