A Dr. Suess style poem for a silly poem contest.
Mr. Jones came to town today
Riding two magoons
Mr. Jones fell from his saddle
Looking a buffoon

He sat unshaken in the dirt
Next to his ogle-faced magoons
A want and need was in his eyes
A want that would happen soon

Mr. Jones brushed off his pants
Turned and look me
He pushed his two magoons aside
Stating, “There’s something I must see!”

I walked over very slowly
Eyeing the eager man
He quickly flipped me two silver coins
So I thought, “Maybe I’ll lend a hand.”

I raised both my eyebrows
Simply stating “What?”
He beamed with joy unbounded
“The dance of the Muffle-Topped Ganauts!”

I really had forgotten
This was to be the day
“Of course.” I said and shook his hand
What else could I possibly say

He slapped me on the back
A laugh was in his smile
“I have waited many years for this.”
“I have waited such a while.”

Mr. Jones and I we waddled
We skipped and jumped and ran
We would see the Ganauts dance today
He must really be a fan

We hurried past the Whoppers
Their blue toes up in the air
Past the little Mauk Magoppers
We gave them quite a scare

We ran through the Craken’s Market
Where oodles of cheese snaps where for sell
And right up to the Auditorium
Just in time to hear the bells

Mr. Jones jumped and sang
As each bell thumped its tune
We entered in the theater
The Ganauts would be arriving soon

Mr. Jones bought us both some frog nuts
And some smakle to swash it down
We sat in anticipation
As the Ganauts began to dance around

“The Muffle-Topped Ganauts are here!”
The announcer said aloud
At this they jumped and twirled
Sending Muffle fur into the crowd

As they spun they sang in harmony
Of the Sluppers at sunrise
And of the Black Smity Frackle
And how it always signs as it flies

The Muffle-Topped Ganauts
Held each other on their hands
They looked like a Wild Eyed Tater
And applause arose from the stands

Mr. Jones and I applauded
As they danced their silly dance
Mr. Jones seemed quiet happy
That he’d finally got his chance

As the show was at an ending
We walked slowly back through town
Mr. Jones and I were awed
We barely made a sound

He said, “Thank you for the day.”
As he climbed astride his beasts
“Next time the Ganauts are in town,”
“We’ll watch and have a feast.”
