Allen entered Marvin’s Florist shop. He always bought flowers here for his wife, Cindy. He thought about her beautiful smile when she thanked him for the flowers. He thought he would die for that smile.
He was the last customer of the day. The florist turned the sign after he entered. He smiled, but his expression changed to confusion as his wife came from the back room.
She said, “I’m leaving you.”
He asked, “Why?”
She stated simply, “I love Marvin.”
His mouth opened, but no words came.
She said, “Oh, we also need the insurance money.”
Marvin shot Allen, then Cindy smiled and dropped a blood red rose on his still chest as they walked away.
