Darkling


Do you have to live your life
way down deep in dark despair?
Can't you climb up to the light?
There are people here who care.

Don't let the darkness blind you
or let heartbreak take away
the glory that is living
or the lucency of day.

I tell you, "times a healer".
You reply, "how do you know"?
I say, "ever since time started
that it always has been so."

Take my hand come soar with me,
scale the stairway to the sky.
Shut out dark and let in light;
heal your hurting heart and fly.

Come make a new beginning.
Life is better than it seems.
Easy said when you're heart whole
without any shattered dreams.

But you can't stay there forever,
I am sure there'll come a time
when sorrow will be done with.
Then, out of the dark you'll climb.
