movie titles and a bit of poetic whimsy |
| Scent of a Woman Adam assumed he knew All About Eve. He believed her perfume was apple and fig, yielding, fruity, post-coital. He was unaware the scent of a woman bends with the light, a balm as complex as the name of the rose. At dawn she may be resinous, piney, at noon blossoming to full carnal flower, a smoky black Narcissus. Adam counted it best when she smelled of Paradise, iris petals soaked by rain, and faded greenery. He began to keep vigil for tremors in the air. He was learning how to inherit the wind, to inhabit her changing, fragrant field of dreams.
