A man alone, I stood at the pole
of my domain,
the bare grass tickled my feet,
the sparkling azure bowl above,
just polished by the fleecy clouds,
threw a bright canopy over me,
and I rejoiced in just being;
A topaz orb rose then and with
golden fingers pointed out wonders
I had never seen before -
the verdant hill dropping away to lush gilded fields,
that rippled and beckoned to me
and I made haste to them -
speed became the purpose … faster … faster,
and then I could not stop,
aureate lights danced before my eyes,
the brilliance was dazzling me,
no longer hindward could I see -
for had I not moved so far ahead?
But what head or hind is there
on a world that's round?
All's a part of the same journey.
