Sometimes it's tough being a female in the military.
Wake up at the crack of dawn
Put her boots and uniform on
Bun is tight and neatly in place
Her gun is loaded and ready for the chase

She has been trained
So much she has gained
To be a stronger female
She now can only prevail

To be something greater
Although there are so many haters
Who don't support her choice
And won't hear her voice

Scream out her fears
Or see the tears
That fall upon her cheek
As each passing week

Goes by and she's all alone
No matter how much she has shown
She is still the same person
As before and the pain worsens

Only her parents pray
That she'll come home to stay
And be safe from all the trepidation
As she fights for our nation

Her peers don't understand
The sting of the sand
As it hits her face
This is more than a race

Of who kills who first
And nothing will quench her thirst
Of the hunger that yearns
And the anger that burns

Within her soul
Her heart is no longer whole
For each person that denies
Her efforts, she dies

A little each time inside
But she can never hide
The blood she sheds
Her sanity hangs on by threads

As she fights for her own breath
And will fight til her death
Also she battles for her friends at home
For all of our freedom

At first when she enlisted
She felt like she existed
For a greater destination
And would receive admiration

From the ones she cares for
But instead they ignore
Her strength and devotion
And every emotion

That is felt when
Each war begins
And she's out there
And no one cares

That she may die
Not knowing why
She's there in the first place
But this is no longer the case

It's the simple fact
That her courageous acts
Seem to go disregarded
As she is ridiculed as retarded

For deciding to enlist
For deciding to exist
As something convalescent
Not becoming something obsolescent

Wake up at the crack of dawn
Put her boots and uniform on
Bun is tight and neatly in place
Her gun is loaded and ready for the chase
