Not only do I write, I can cook, too!
One day, my mom asked me to mix some batter for pancakes, as we were having a "breakfast supper". While she was preparing an omelet, I read the directions on the package of baking mix and proceeded to measure the ingredients in a large bowl.

After the pancakes were made, we sat down for supper. My mom tasted the pancakes and said there seems to be something missing, because they tasted flat. I told her; "aren't pancakes supposed to be flat?"  She called me a smart *$$, and told me I know darn well what she means.

We went over the ingredients I put in one by one. When she asked me how many eggs I put in, I said; "none". She questioned me as to why I did not put eggs into the mixture, and asked me if the recipe called for eggs. I told her that eggs were required in the recipe, and I followed her egg rule fully.

Now, my mom was getting curious as to how her rule meant not to add eggs when they were required. I proceeded to remind her of her own egg rule.

"You see mom, your egg rule states than when we use "jumbo" eggs, we can use one less egg in the recipe." My mom asked me how many eggs the recipe called for. I told her that the recipe only required one egg. Therefore, applying her rule, that meant no eggs were needed.

I must report she found little humor in this.
