In my junior and senior year of high school I participated in the Varsity Cross Country team. This had been a very rewarding experience. In my senior year I was honored with the title of captain. Running cross-country is a very rewarding sport. Not only for the physical ability that is gained, but also for the mental state that is experienced in the adrenaline of the start of the race, the endurance to keep going the entire 5K, and the ecstasy of finishing the race. The leadership of being captain was valued in my other endeavors at school. By leading practices and encouraging my teammates at races I gained both the respect of my teammates as well as my coaches.
