When I was young
How impertinent I,
I reached for the sky.
I ignored the years going by
in my obstinant reach for the sky
I didn't see the children in the yard,
The lovers strolling by,
or the old pickin' and grinnin' in the shade.
I ignored it all in my quest for the sky.
Then one day my life slowly drifted away
until finally I sank,
having never touched the sky.
And then was enveloped by the soft brown earth.
