It's funny how life works. I'd written a children's story and wanted to market it. I didn't know how to go about it, but I knew I wanted to protect my copyrights to the story. I did a Google search with "copyright" in the search engine, and after a couple clicks I found myself on Writing.com's homepage. Hmmm, what's this? Click, click...interesting...click...and it's free?...my own virtual writing portfolio...member-to-member reviews...click, click...cool...how do I sign up?...click here...
And that was the beginning. I posted my children's story ("The Giving Lesson" ) and three hours later I received my first review, from Cemetarykat says,Bring it on!. I was thrilled. I have been on the site every day since, and WDC has truly become my home.
The stories in this folder represent the beginning of my exploration into the craft of creative writing. I'd never taken a class and had no formal exposure to character development or plot arcs, pacing or rising action, themes or conflict resolution. These stories could all be improved, but I don't think I'll return to them. Maybe I'll rewrite them one day...but I think documenting my creative jumping-off point is important -- to me, anyways!
