the tick of a clock sends a chill down my spine
another second passed and lost in time
a subtle voice saying "you will die"

I'm locked in a room with an open door
on the edge of my seat wanting something more
but I will remain still and patiently pray for ignorance

suddenly sunlight pours through my closed blinds
an uplifting shine from the same source of light
a subtle voice singing "you are still alive"

it's time to address every memory I've ever supressed
and every sin that I have never confessed
I'll hate the mistakes I've made rather than myself
I'll read this clock like a compass
