Just like most kids I had a fear of the dark when I was small.
I've come to believe that something in the dark is calling my name
It wants to make me feel pain
With spider like fingers it reaches for me
But how do you fight something you can't see.
It lurks just outside the light bulb glow.
I curl up and pray it will go.
I long for morning sunlight.
For this fear in me only comes out at night.
It seems to form from the shadows themselves.
It's hard to keep calm when books are flying off the shelves.
The day before the doctor said it's all in my head.
He perscribed me more pills and sent me to bed.
All you need is a good night sleep.
My eyes grow heavy as I pray my soul to keep.
Don't leave me I beg and plead.
But he heads to the door with great speed.
I have others to tend to you know.
your just seeing things I really must go.
My chest feels tight and the air seems thick.
The shadows are closing in quick.
Just as I think I'm going to lose my mind.
A sliver of light slips through the blinds.
The shadows make a hasty retreat.
Scrambling from the light with the sound of running feet.
I race to the window and throw open the blinds.
I thank God for the morning sunshine.
