TABLE OF CONTENTS:

.................Chapter 1

Earth entering into chaos
Opening with a climactic scene showing the anarchy caused from previous events, creating questions of what those events were. Violence in the streets and suffering people rebelling against an injustice are all because the government refuses to use its resources to end the suffering. One man's name is mentioned as the main one responsible for the government's inaction, our protagonist Michael Stanford, starting the reader with the question why is our hero being seen as a villain?

...................Chapter 2

Old habits die hard

Going back before the opening events, we meet Michael Stanford, his wife, and her mother at home. We learn where Michael's motivations lie and how they originated. Why he feels so strongly about certain issues. Why he can be so fair minded and giving and yet self centered by focusing on getting things his own way.

....................Chapter 3

Past grief and looming threat

The doctor's waiting room is never a pleasant place for Martha, Michael's mother in law; she can't even concentrate on a book since her mind reels over unpleasant memories. At least close family helps you cope and even find a smile every now and then, but everyone has their limits. Sometimes you just want to escape the pain so... bad...

.....................Chapter 4

Space vessels approaching earth with scary aliens

A fleet of space ships are nearing earth. Aboard one of the vessels is an alien, named Bethesda, who is anxious about their impending mission and the people relying on him. We get a sense of his world, his humanity, and how he sees our world, and even with the apprehension he feels approaching this planet with aliens different from them, he still has hope to befriend the earth people and a sense of fair play guiding him. But the scariest reality about going to earth is that by leaving their weightless environment their natural adaptations, providing abilities over what earth creatures are capable of, will make them disabled in earth's gravity. So they need to use their biological technology and robotics to adapt.

......................Chapter 5

The two worlds meet

Back at the Stanford house, life resumed over the past two months coping with Martha's disease again. We get a sense of Julie's relationships within the support group and how they help her deal with her mother's disease. We follow Michael through his normal morning routine, come to know his friends at work, and see everyone's normal routine disrupted as Bethesda unexpectedly makes his appearance and the two worlds are thrown together.

...................Chapter 6

Hope and destruction

Great hope is accompanied with great disappointment, when everyone is forced to wait for the cures, while the government works on contract translations. Working closely together Michael and Bethesda grow to trust each other and form a friendship. Each of them gets a chance to experience the other's world. But impatience is growing rapidly, and Michael finds a lot of the blame directed at him.
