Journey of a man from birth to death through the cycle of sunrise and sunset |
Journey of the Son Son rise in the east, Birth of man in infancy Sees himself in mother’s eyes His place within the family Son in sky, the time is noon. The boy hears whispers from the road where he must journey for the truth. Before he reaps, he’ll have to sow. Son above still shining strong Man starts his search to find his own He seeks himself, he finds his song He meets a woman and makes a home. Son above moves toward the west Man sifts through ancient truths and lies And learns again the tenderness. When he looks into his children’s eyes Son sets upon horizons red Family joys and burdens blend A hard days done, more work ahead. Before he meets the journey’s end Son dips low, night has begun Man reviews the life he’s made His wife with him, his children gone Before his family, he has laid: A steady strength like Earth’s terrain. The freedom to dream of skies above Shelter to weather wind and rain The warmth of sunlight from his love. It’s midnight, long before the morn The man begins his final flight From this Earth, his soul reborn Once more the babe in mother’s eyes. SWPoet Note: Son (spelling intentional) |
