This is a poem I wrote about my period of depression.
As each day passes, a layer of my soul is peeled away,
A little of me disappears,
I'm worn-out and faded; tired of being here,
I want to fade out completely until there's nothing left.
Everyone sees straight through me; my body is a mist,
My heart is open for anyone to see,
My very essence is vulnerable,
But no one bothers to look; no one cares.
I'm a weathered statue; hidden from the world,
I feel like an outcast; no one wants to know I'm there,
I'm beaten down, torn up and ripped apart,
My soul is a ragged, bloody reminder of my despair.
The color of my happiness has left me,
I'm a black and white image; old and dusty,
Dirty veils enclose me in their darkness,
I will be swallowed up....and no one will find me.
