| ODE TO A LOST SOCK.....or the BEAST Beneath My Dryer...... Lint and twine and all that’s fine Is safe within it’s basket Spinning my clothing round and round Making it nice and warm BUT WAIT! My favorite purple sock It seems to have gone into hiding I put it in with it’s partner Not more than an hour ago But now I have a single purple sock Not two like there was before It looks so sad and lonely Without it’s counterpart I turn the dryer hand over hand To see if it may fall out Once, Twice, now Three times And still nothing but an empty drum I think that I may cry and lament For my soft and purple friend I thought that it may stay with me Comforting my feet on cold days But now I’m left with one Right foot seems so solemn now Thinking of it’s missing companion The beast beneath my dryer Has claimed another victim OH CURSED WRETCH THAT BEAST THAT FESTERS BENEATH MY DRYER TAKING MY PURPLE SOCK FROM ME BEFORE IT’S TIME WAS THROUGH!!! Oh... wait.... I dropped it.... It was right here on the floor ‘Twas not the beast, but myself The klutz in front of the dryer door..... |
