a poem on the native animals of australia

As I was driving through the bush one day, I saw a strange sight,
a rowdy bunch of animals absorbed in a fight,
although I didn't know them I thought it quite fitting,
that not a single one of them had any sense of quitting.

The crocs, snapping everywhere were at the point of breaking jaws,
the platypi and platypeople had abandoned all their laws,
and you know, one of the thing that really surprised me most,
was that all the trees and rocks had cleared acting as their host.

the 'roos were bouncing up and down with flailing arms and legs,
the frogs were even jumping 'round like a dog that leaps and begs,
and what a racket, I couldn't believe it! I could hardly stay still,
for the fact that there was so much energy, these animals were poised to kill.

I watched the progress of the brawl with undisguised curiosity,
the air was thick with hate and despise and definite aminosity,
but sadly, I could never match the bravery of the fight,
When once upon a fine day I saw that strange sight.
