When love's so close you cannot feel it

I pursue you with my heart,
heavy in love, but scarred,
but you retreat away,
scared rabbit, please stay.

I cannot fathom why,
love seems to make you cry?
it is not what I have done,
but your feet still run.

Though I tried  to do it right,
teary eyes blur my sight.
gone when I asked to stay,
does it have to be this way?

I sang lyrics that I made,
songs to make you stay.
But still you run and hide,
when I was right by your side.

I waited for your life,
to be empty of all strife.
I was that one for you,
You knew it was so true.

Alone I write these words,
to you they were unheard.
A tear fell on this pad,
not enough to express the sad.

Each day seems never ending,
will her heart ever mend?
Will a day come tomorrow,
to end all your sorrow?

It is out of my hands,
For I am just a man.
A fool in love with you,
no regrets for what is truth.
