Complicated

This was done as part of a writing challenge on another site.

Simple is not a word I understand
When chaos reigns in the land
What do we do with this devastation?
We can’t comprehend the implications
Money for war but not for food
It puts me in a foul mood
To think of soldiers who fight and die
Who can only drink the tears they cry
Why can’t this world seem to work?
To get rid of conflicts that we shirk
We are creatures of thought
At least, that’s what I was taught
Just end the wars we stipulated
How did everything get so complicated?
