A man stares into the night sky with his friend.
He stared into the night sky, marveling at its beauty. There were so many bright lights up there, even more than he could imagine, really. He looked down beside him. She was looking too. Was she thinking the same thing? Was she staring at the billions of lights and thinking not about them but what was lying in-between.

It was a perfect silence. Her smile said more than words ever would. She in herself was like the night sky. The things you see, the things that draw you are the bright baubles dangling before you. They make you swoon and awe and take the time to look and appreciate it, but they don’t make you think. What makes you think is what you don’t see. What drives your thoughts is what you want to know. The endless possibilities waiting, hiding, under the allure of those bright baubles

It was in that moment he realized everything. The sky was often defined as that dome overhead, yet in reality it was endless. Expected to be only one thing, it could be anything. It could bring life with rain and light, or it could bring death with fire and stone. It was a portal to an endless plane of existence where nothing was as it seemed.

It was like a person. A person could bring life and love and happiness with them wherever they went. A person could help the world be greater than it was. At the same time, a person could do nothing but destroy. They could kill and betray and lie. Everything in life was a reflection of humanity. Or, maybe, humanity was a reflection of life.

He looked back into the endless plane and let his mind take flight to places he never imagined.
