A rivers blessed
As the sun sets
Slowly the moon rises and shuns light across
The glassy surface of the water
It glows up at me as I sit on the river bank
Feeling the wind graze by my cheeks
as the fire from the wood warms my feet
I inhale all the space around me
Except for the insects sharp whispers
It is silent
My body slows and so does my breath
Widening the smile that spreads inside my head
The oldest trees tower over me
As I wrap my arms around my knees
They are my protectors
I dig my feet into the grass
some blades rest between the cracks of my toes
The stars are out tonight
Shining down at a planet made of dreams
I lay down on my back and look out at the black
And not knowing where it ends sends a pang to my chest
Man that’s crazy isn’t it…
