Once upon a dreary winter day Sophia cried out in dismay. The floor shook with a loud crash. Mom and Dad did a mad dash Upstairs they found Two girls looking down And a pretty bed torn asunder. Dad roared in voice like thunder! Mom glowered like a stormy cloud Sophia sobbed and cried out loud, “Chantal broke my bed!” Chantal shook her head. “I sat down, gently. Just like so. How the bed broke I do not know.” “She’s lying” said Sophia, crying. “Chantal leaped with one foot and jumped with the other She’s worse then a brother! My bed she did assault! She broke it – it’s her fault. The parents did all they could, But the bed was now firewood. For weeks Sophia slept on the floor. Her parents wanted to do more. Money for skiing had been set apart, So with a heavy, sore heart And dreams of skiing in their heads The family went and bought a bed. From the store, delivered to the door. The sales clerk asked with great care, “What’s the most inconvenient time to bring it there? From 11:45 to half past two That’s when we’ll bring it to you.” Once upon a dreary winter day, A delivery truck brought by a bed On which Sophia lays her head. Four tall posts, snowy white Put an end to the sister’s fight. |
