When Evan Grayson returns to his hometown, a sleepy South Carolina hamlet named Deerfield, he wants to escape his sordid past in New York City and find peace and quiet in the arms of his homeland. Instead, he finds his life taking unexpected turns when a new neighbor moves into a house down the street and his old life returns to haunt him.
Evan’s return to Deerfield is derailed when he falls in love with his arch nemesis and neighbor, Andrew Garrison. The two find an unconventional bond in one another that stands the test of gunfire and the prying of little old ladies. The ultimate test of faith and resilience comes when Evan’s past, in the form of Grant Kirkland, comes to reclaim his lost ‘property.’ Grant is jealous, wrathful and armed. Only Andrew and the neighbors know how violent and dangerous Grant is. Their pleas to Evan go unheeded until it is almost too late.
Engrid and Dora are quiet, elderly women living out their final years in Deerfield. Their views are shaken when they unwittingly discover the bond that exists between Andrew and Evan. They must rethink love and face their own trials as they are forced to choose between the past and the future.
