This is a poem about abusive relationships. From personal experience.
You had me in your grip,
A play thing for your amusement.
You played such a cruel game,
A game you played every day.
Abuse me, taunt me, slowly kill me.

Tell me I'm not worth shit.
Would not let me live.
Control me, hurt me, slowly kill me.
In was in you iron grip.

It wouldn't matter how much I'd cry.
You didn't care, it only meant you won.
You knew you had me trapped,
I was a fly stuck in your web.
Hate me, trick me, slowly kill me.

I had no more strength,
You took it all from me.
It was as if you fed on my energy,
Sucked the life from me.

One day I said no,
Left on the dead of night.
I let the darkness take me,
My soul showed me the light.
Fight me, hate me, you can't kill me.

I took a taste of freedom,
I knew what I did was right.
I got my life back,
Restored my heart.
It's my life now... Not yours.
